20,000 flowering plants! FLOWER GARDEN 2025
Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse will hold ‘FLOWER GARDEN 2025’ at the “Yokohama Akarenga” Event Square for a total of 24 days from Friday 28 March to Sunday 20 April 2025.
This event started in 2007 as an event to enjoy the scenery of a vast flower garden overlooking the Port of Yokohama and is now in its 19th year. It is held under a different theme each year and has been well received as a ‘springtime tradition in Yokohama’, with approximately 530,000 visitors last year.
This year’s theme is Flower Museum. At the venue, where more than 20,000 flowers of over 18 varieties bloom on an area of approximately 1,200 m2, visitors can admire flowers in nine different colours, including red, blue, yellow, green, pink, purple and orange, and in each colour area there are flower ponies and flower dresses made from flowers and other colour-specific ‘artworks’. In each colour area, flower ponies, flower dresses and other colour-specific ‘works of art’ made from flowers are displayed. An outdoor floral museum with the atmosphere of a Western art museum is created. A floral ‘fountain’ in the centre is reminiscent of a European garden. Visitors can enjoy the atmosphere as if they were visiting a western art museum. After dusk, the flowers and illumination collaborate and the objects glow, creating a different atmosphere from the daytime.
The venue is also divided into two main areas, allowing visitors to enjoy the ‘changing eras of Western art’ throughout the venue. The entrance area has a slightly dilapidated medieval European atmosphere, while the works on display in the Museum area create a modern European atmosphere where art was developing, and the Mellow area beyond creates a gentle, modern European atmosphere where everyone can relax on the lawn. The Mellow area is a grassy area with a gentle, modern European atmosphere where everyone can relax. The exhibition space will also feature a number of ‘guess spot’ areas where visitors can take photos with acrylic stands and plush toys, making the most of the colourful flower gardens around the venue.
In the ‘Mellow Area’, a relaxing space with pastel-coloured flowers, parents and children can enjoy the spring season by sitting on the ‘wave-like lawn’, surrounded by flowers and playing on the wooden slide, in a flower garden with light and gentle colours. The children can enjoy the spring season with their parents and children. There are also hills in the flower garden and paths amongst the flowerbeds, so you can enjoy the sensation of being ‘surrounded’ by flowers in a luxurious way. Not just to look at, but also to eat. In addition to kitchen cars, there is also a market on weekends.
