China has started studying the ‘Energy-saving and New Energy Vehicle Technology Roadmap 3.0’ for 2040
The China Society of Automotive Engineering (CSAE, equivalent to the Japanese Society of Automotive Engineers, JSAE) has started to study the ‘Energy-saving and New Energy Vehicle Technology Roadmap 3.0’ for 2040.
Following the announcement of the Chinese Government’s 2060 carbon neutral target in September 2020, low-carbon technologies are advocated instead of the fuel-efficient technologies used until now. Apart from high-efficiency powertrains and lightweighting, the technology targets for low-carbon/carbon-neutral engines were included, with ‘e-Fuel’ as one theme.
Meanwhile, in the battery field, in addition to setting targets for materials, recycling, etc. as before, a life cycle carbon footprint has been incorporated for the first time, as quantification of carbon emissions is an essential prerequisite for expanding sales to overseas OEMs.
The content of the discussions on the Energy Saving and New Energy Vehicle Technology Roadmap 3.0 will be the focus of attention.
