JAL and Food Hall Aoba begin collecting waste cooking oil from households to be used as raw material for domestically produced SAF
Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. will install collection boxes for waste cooking oil generated at home and start collecting it at “Food Hall Aoba” operated by Vic Rise Co.
JAL is promoting various initiatives to achieve virtually zero CO2 emissions (net zero emissions) by 2050. As part of these efforts, JAL is implementing the “Let’s Fly with Waste Oil,” a project to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from household waste cooking oil, in order to promote the decarbonization of aircraft. Meanwhile, Vic Rise has solar power plant facilities and contributes to the reduction of CO2 emissions by generating electricity from natural energy sources.
In order to promote the decarbonization of airplanes, this project is promoted by JAL, which calls for the collection of waste cooking oil from households and its reuse in SAF. You can participate in this project at the store for 200 yen (excluding tax). Participants will receive a collection bottle and a JAL original sticker. In addition, if you report your collection of waste cooking oil using the 2D barcode at the store, you will be entered into a drawing to win a prize from JAL.
