Kokusai Kogyo Co., Ltd. introduced a retrofit EV bus to its Ikebukuro office and began operation on September 9 for the first time in the Kanto region.

The Retrofit EV Bus is an EV conversion of a diesel engine nonstep bus that has been running for about 13 years and about 510,000 km. RAC Electric Vehicles Inc., the largest manufacturer of electric buses in Taiwan, conducted the conversion, and with the overall supervision of Sumitomo Corporation and Sumitomo Corporation Power & Mobility, and the technical cooperation of Nishi-Nippon Railroad Co. and Nishitetsu Shatai Engineering Co.

In conjunction with the introduction of the new vehicles, a quick charger has been newly installed at the Ikebukuro Office. We will continue to promote initiatives for decarbonization, including the introduction of electric vehicles, and contribute to the realization of carbon neutrality by 2050.
