TerraCharge Installs Quick Charger for Electric Vehicles (EVs) at “Shirakawa-go” Roadside Station in Shirakawa Village, Gifu Prefecture

Terra Charge, which operates the “Terra Charge” charging service for electric vehicles (EVs), has decided to install a single 90kW output quick charger at Roadside Station “Shirakawa-go” (411 Oaza-Iijima, Shirakawa-mura, Ono-gun, Gifu Prefecture).

1: The government is promoting the development of EV charging infrastructure, and roadside stations are also required to serve as disaster prevention hubs.
EV diffusion and the expansion of EV charging infrastructure are rapidly accelerating toward achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has set a target of 300,000 EV chargers to be installed by 2030 (40,000 at present), and there is a nationwide need to improve the charging environment.
However, from now on, the public and private sectors must work together to accelerate efforts toward further regional development, such as tourism and disaster prevention, based on free ideas and local enthusiasm at each “Michi-no-Eki” (roadside station). EVs have a power storage function, and in the event of a disaster, EVs can act as “running storage batteries” to supply electricity to areas where electricity has not yet been restored. Therefore, EV chargers play an important role not only as daily infrastructure for local residents and tourists who own EVs, but also in times of disaster.

2: Roadside Station Shirakawa-go is a tourist base where visitors can also enjoy exhibits of gassho-zukuri architecture
Roadside Station Shirakawa-go is conveniently located along Route 156 in Shirakawa Village, Ono-gun, Gifu Prefecture, and is only a 7-minute drive from the Gassho-Zukuri Village. The “Shirakawa-go Gassho Museum” is also located here, with Gassho-zukuri houses on display, allowing visitors to learn about the traditional structure in an easy-to-understand manner. The restaurant “Minja” offers a popular menu featuring Shirakawa-go brand “Yumi Pork”. Shiso monaka” and “doburoku yokan” made by a long-established local confectionery shop are available as souvenirs, and there is also a direct sales shop for agricultural products.

3: Terracharge is a service that places little burden on the local government.
We have realized the provision of EV charging services with no initial/maintenance and operation costs for facilities, and are promoting the installation of EV chargers throughout Japan. The chargers are made in Japan with low risk of parts shortages, have billing settlement and management functions, and have a 24/7/365 call center, providing a reliable service in operation and after-sales maintenance.
