What is the next “autonomous AI agent” to attract attention?
News that the use of AI has significantly shortened the research period for discovering new materials is still fresh in our minds. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has also launched a project called GENIAC to strengthen the development of generative AI, and it is expected that the AI field will continue to gain momentum.
In the AI field, which is expected to continue to evolve, the next focus of attention will be on “autonomous AI agents”, which “do not require detailed instructions and can think of procedures to complete tasks on their own”. While expectations are high for tools that can complete complex tasks on their own, there are also concerns about their use, such as whether the information they provide is really correct and whether their copyrights have been cleared. This session will deepen understanding from both efficiency and governance perspectives.
With recent developments in AI technology, generative AI is playing an increasingly important role in business. Among others, autonomous AI systems, known as AI agents, have the potential to go beyond simple task efficiency and revolutionise the field of exploratory intellectual labour. This presentation describes AI agents, which are key to the further use of generative AI, and provides an outlook on how our businesses will be transformed by the use of AI agents.
Even in an age where AI can perform tasks autonomously, the capabilities required of humans will never be lost. Rather, the question will be how to manage AI in the same way as humans, and together we will consider our new role in the age of AI agents.
